Call for Student Representatives for Common Awards programmes 2025/26

Do you have the skills and passion to represent your fellow students?

The St Mellitus/Common Awards Management Committee is a committee with responsibility for and oversight of student experience and the quality and standards of programme delivery. The membership of the Board includes students from St Mellitus across the centres who represent the whole of the Common Awards student body. Student representatives are able to contribute to the College’s decision-making, policy development and the ongoing monitoring and development of programmes at a local level. Some of these contributions may then be forwarded to the Common Awards Management Board which has student representation at a national level.

St Mellitus College is facilitating an election for you to elect student representatives to represent you at Management Committee in the next academic year.

~ Would you like to represent your fellow students and contribute to St Mellitus College’s decision-making and policy development?

The Role of Student Representatives

Student representatives are elected for one year. The role of the student representatives is:

1. to be present at the relevant meeting(s) of the St Mellitus/Common Awards Management Committee that they have agreed to attend;
2. to gather and collate feedback from other students, and submit items of student feedback to the Chair of the Management Committee;
3. to provide an oral update at the meeting on any feedback they have received from other students;
4. to report back to students on matters raised and discussed at the St Mellitus/Common Awards Management Committee.

We are looking for the following student representative positions to be filled in 2025/26:

London Monday [6 reps in total]: 1) Ordinand MA; 2) Independent MA; 3) Ordinand UG (2 representatives are needed); 4) Independent UG; 5) Independent UG (Future Generations, e.g,. Youth and Children’s Ministry)

London Tuesday [2 reps in total]: 1) Ordinand and LLM; 2) Independent UG

South West [2 reps in total]: 1) Undergraduate (Ordinand and Independent); 2) Postgraduate (Ordinand and Independent)

Chelmsford [1 rep]: 1) Ordinand

East Midlands [2 reps in total]: 1) Undergraduate (Ordinand and Independent); 2) Postgraduate (Ordinand and Independent)

Candidates wanting to stand for election must self-nominate by 2nd May 2025 but seek the support of two other students who will still be completing an Durham-accredited programme in 2025/26.  To self-nominate please use this form: STUDENT REP 2025/26 SELF-NOMINATION FORM

The election will take place at each centre and elected student representatives will be confirmed by mid-June 2025. Elected student representatives would officially begin their role in September 2025 and attend the first meeting of Management Committee scheduled for September/October 2025.
